IDENTITY: Robert Alexander Hughan, the brother of Bertha Hughan and brother-in-law of Henry Bishop. Robert came to Australia as a convict exile in 1849 on board the ship "Mount Stewart Elphinstone", transported for the crime of stealing a watch from the man he worked for in London.He landed in Moreton Bay, and remained in Queensland for many years working as a drover and overland carrier.Robert never married, and lived his last years in Melbourne at the Cheltenham Benevolent Home, where he died in 1915.
